Take a voyage into the magical world of animals in Animalopolis, returning August 12, 2011 to  the Omni Theater, an IMAX dome at the Fort Worth Museum of Science and History. It’s a bit fanciful, a bit "Seussian" perhaps, and just plain fun for kids and their parents.

The whimsical film is done in rhyme and verse with a humorous tone while concentrating on real-world animal activities. It takes a lighthearted and imaginary look at a variety of animals, including cheetahs that race like a Ferrari, bears that run their own fishing school, an operatic lion, scary crabs that hold a town hostage and even attempt to cuddle with children, and much more. Whether going nose to nose with hippos as they graze upon nature's massive salad bar, or eye to eye with dancing bears, sea lions turning somersaults, or an otter that prays, we are reminded that nature provides us with humor and wonder everywhere.

Directed by award-winning Tim Huntley, and produced by Graphic Films' Paul Novros, Animalopolis breaks new ground as an IMAX documentary by appealing to the cinematic interests of the entire family. Prior films have been geared for audiences as young as six or seven years of age, but Animalopolis generates a strong response from even the youngest tots in the audience. This represents a milestone in the IMAX environment, as Animalopolis appeals to a broader demographic while not straying from its intent to involve very young movie-goers in a new experience. It was specifically edited to maintain the attention of young viewers, while also appealing to pre-teen, teen, and adult responses.

Animalopolis will show through Sept. 20, 2011. Tickets are $7 for adults, $6 for children (2-12) and seniors (60+). Purchase tickets online or by phone at 817-255-9540. To learn more about the true behaviors of the film’s 14 featured animals, guests can download fact cards from the Animalopolis web site.
