Building Services Technician- Painter 2nd Shift, Full-time


Job Description Summary:

Responsible for repairs, renovations, and maintenance that require painting or finishing work to be performed in Museum properties. This position will be pivotal in upholding Museum Show Quality Standards and may be called upon to support internal and external events including corporate rentals and private events. The Fort Worth Museum of Science and History’s world-class campus was designed by the internationally acclaimed architectural firm, Legorreta + Legorreta. 

 

Basic Function and Responsibilities including but not limited to:

  • Must be able to work evenings, from 3pm until midnight, Sunday through Thursday
  • Ability to work independently and remain motivated to exceed assignment expectations
  • Sees that work is done according to acceptable standards, with attention to detail
  • Cleans, scrapes, sands, and patches all areas to be painted as necessary for proper surface preparation.
  • Finishes surfaces and seams in drywall as needed for painting and wall covering
  • Finishes wood products using proper surface preparation techniques, stain, and finish coat
  • Protects areas and equipment not to be painted from overspray or other paint products
  • Uses appropriate type of application technique for each job, whether spraying, rolling or brushing
  • Performs work with the least possible impact to existing building and its contents
  • Verifies that work is finished and cleanup is complete before leaving the job
  • Special assignments as given by Building Services Management team

 

Qualifications:

  • Two years of experience in commercial painting field
  • To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily
  • Must be familiar with tools used in painting and possess advanced knowledge of proper painting techniques
  • Must be able to operate a scissor lift
  • Great problem solving skills, good attention to detail, and a willingness to get dirty
  • Ability to speak/write in fluent English
  • Must have good communication skills and be able to relate well to people
  • Must be eighteen (18) years of age or older

Physical Requirements:

Must be able to bend and stoop, carry up to 40 pounds of equipment, and climb step ladders
